Defender Hill released by Robins

Josh Hill will not be offered a new deal with Ilkeston FC, manager Kevin Wilson has confirmed.
The defender, who turns 21 next week, was a regular in the Robins line-up in the first part of last season’s promotion-winning campaign.
But he fell out of favour towards the end of a campaign as Dan Partridge and captain Russell Cooke became the preferred pairing.
At one point it seemed the former Loughborough Students player would be moving abroad and not available for the Robins this season.
However, Hill (pictured) did return in pre-season but has not impressed sufficiently to win fresh terms at the New Manor Ground.
“Players that played a lot of games towards the end of last season have come back this summer and taken it on once again,” said Wilson.
“But some of the players who are on the fringes have come back and not taken it on – and I would put Josh in that category.
“We can’t wait around while players buck their ideas up. We need them hungry and raring to go.”
• An Ilkeston FC side largely made up of trialists played a behind-closed-doors game at Rainworth Miners’ Welfare last night, losing 2-1.
James Reid was on target while Will McCall, who can’t play at Gresley tomorrow, and Joe Maguire also got valuable minutes under their belts.
