Osborne hands Academy opening game win

Wednesday 12 September

Our Academy side got their season off to a winning start at the New Manor Ground this afternoon - but manager Kevin Wilson was not entirely happy.

A young Robins side were 1-0 victors at the New Manor Ground over MMU Newcastle as Ryan Osborne grabbed the only goal.

But it was a less than fluent display that left plenty of room for improvement with Wilson saying: “It wasn’t really the best of starts, but at least the team came through to win the game.

“It was very stuttering and not really up to the usual standard we have come to expect in terms of playing the ball on the floor.

“But from my point of view I was very pleased to see a clean sheet as well as four 16-year-olds out there.

“If you are getting lads of that age some decent experience then it is a good sign, and the more they play, the better they will become.”
