Wilson and Thomas set for FA Cup return

Friday 7 September

Laurie Wilson and Daryll Thomas are set to return from injury when Ilkeston FC make their debut in the FA Cup against Coalville Town tomorrow.

Neither has played for the Robins since the opening day draw with AFC Fylde, when Thomas pulled a hamstring and Wilson suffered a recurrence of a long-standing shoulder injury.

After checking out his extensive injury list at last night's training session, manager Kevin Wilson said: "Laurie and Daryll would seem the best bets to return at Coalville.

"Hopefully they could be joined by others who managed to take part in the training session, but I want to wait and see if there's any reaction before deciding on our line-up.

"The nice thing about it is that after the way the youngsters performed at Rushall Olympic on Monday, I'm not under terrific pressure to make changes."

One certain non-starter will be skipper Russell Cooke, so teenager Ellis Storey is poised to get a chance to build on Monday's highly impressive performance.

• Just a reminder to supporters that if Saturday's match finishes as a draw, the replay will take place this Monday at the New Manor Ground, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

• The Academy play their opening game of the season in the Football Conference Youth League Northern Division next week when they play MMU Newcastle at home. The game kicks off at 2pm.
